Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP recently hit new all-time high prices. In fact, up and down the top 10 coins by market cap (excluding dollar-pegged stablecoins), nearly every asset has set a fresh peak over the last year, including Solana, BNB, and Tron.

Dogecoin is the only exception. While DOGE pumped in the last months of 2024 amid Elon Musk’s campaign trail support of Donald Trump and then the broader market surge seen following Trump’s win, the O.G. meme coin never got close to beating its 2021 record—and now sits 70% down.

What’s the deal? While broader crypto sentiment has been up in recent months, experts tell Decrypt that DOGE is missing out on demand drivers and use cases that have propelled BTC, ETH, and other coins to new highs.

Maybe good vibes alone actually aren’t enough in the current crypto market.
