Worldcoin, the digital identity startup co-founded by OpenAI’s Sam Altman, has rebranded as ‘World.’

“Worldcoin as the name just doesn't work anymore,” said Tools for Humanity CEO Alex Blania, unveiling a new version of its controversial iris-scanning Orb device that can perform AI operations five times faster than the previous model.

The newly named World has also launched its own Ethereum layer-2 network, World Chain, on mainnet, natively integrating its World ID system.
