Just a couple days after launching his own Solana meme coin, President Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday.
Bitcoin jumped to a new all-time high price near $109,000 early this morning, ahead of the transition of power, though it and other major cryptocurrencies have cooled off as traders apparently sell the news following recent gains.
Trump is expected to sign some potentially consequential executive orders later Monday in relation to the crypto industry. In the meantime, SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda has been named acting chair of the agency ahead of a confirmation vote for Trump’s pick of Paul Atkins to lead the securities regulator.
As for Trump’s own meme coin, it’s down 50% from its peak, crashing upon the introduction of Melania Trump’s own coin on Sunday and continuing to sink into Monday—particularly after Trump failed to pump it during his inauguration speech.
