Decentralized identity project Humanity Protocol saw its H token plunge more than 80% Tuesday after attackers compromised an employee’s laptop, seizing control of private keys and bridge admin controls to make off with some $36 million.

The exploit extends a torrid stretch for the DeFi space, with more than $885 million lost to hacks in the first half of the year. And with frontier AI models already being used to uncover bugs in crypto, the arms race between whitehats and hackers is only set to gather pace.
