SEC safe harbor on the horizon ⛵
The long-promised crypto rules could come as soon as this month, establishing a regulatory safe harbor for U.S. crypto projects.
📝 What you need to know
The SEC is set to unveil its long-awaited crypto rulemaking, publishing an updated agenda for 2026 that could see the rule introduced as soon as this month. The rules would govern the offering and sale of crypto assets along with “certain exemptions and safe harbors,” enabling activity in areas such as tokenized securities and DeFi without triggering SEC enforcement actions.
Agency Chair Paul Atkins had earlier said that the rules would be rolled out in January, but delays and uncertainty surrounding the Clarity Act’s passage through Congress had impacted on the SEC’s rollout of its own crypto rules.
