U.S. regulators are finally aligning on their approach to digital assets, with the news that the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission have signed a coordination pact.
The agreement sets out how the two agencies will coordinate rulemaking, supervision, and enforcement across areas where their authority overlaps, with the aim of preventing “regulatory turf wars.”
The move marks the “next phase” for the digital assets sector, industry observers told Decrypt, enabling firms to design new financial products without having to deal with parallel approvals and duplicated processes in dealing with the two regulators.
