Satoshi is Back? 👨‍💻
A New York Times story named longtime Bitcoiner Adam Back as the cryptocurrency's mysterious creator. He says he isn't.
📝 What you need to know
The identity of Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto has long been a subject for debate. Now the New York Times has weighed in, with an exposé naming cypherpunk Adam Back as the man behind the code.
Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner John Carreyrou came to that conclusion after an 18-month investigation using a combination of grammar analysis, research, and in-person interviews. Only problem is, Back himself flat-out denies that he’s Satoshi, attributing any similarities in their writing style to “coincidence” and “similar experience and interests.”
Satoshi’s identity will likely remain an enigma unless the mysterious Bitcoin creator provides definitive proof, either by signing with their private keys, or moving BTC from one of the wallets linked to them.
And if that were to happen, all hell would break loose.
