Roaring Kitty goes live, Bitcoin plunges

GameStop dampens Keith Gill's return while the price of BTC tanks.

First to Twitter, then Reddit, and now returning to YouTube, Keith Gill—Roaring Kitty to his fans—hosted his first video livestream in years, drawing an audience of more than 700,000 as he reintroduced himself and addressed the performance of GameStop (GME) stock.

His hotly anticipated broadcast came shortly after GameStop issued its quarterly earnings report four days early, disappointing analysts with a reported 29% drop in sales over the same quarter last year. Its stock price fell 30%.

“It is what it is—what am I going to do?” Gill said about GME’s Friday dip, his broadcast preceded by a litany of disclaimers. “You post a couple memes, you post a couple of screenshots, and everyone loses their mind.”

If that wasn’t enough news, the price of Bitcoin—which simmered above $71,000 earlier in the day—dropped by more than $3,000 today to $68,869.
