President Donald Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” passed the Senate on Tuesday following a whirlwind voting session—but attempts to squeeze in tax amendments to benefit crypto users ultimately fell short.

Pro-crypto Senators and industry leaders scrambled to tack an amendment onto the bill seeking tax benefits for crypto miners and stakers, treasury firms, and retail traders. On Monday, Sen. Cynthia Lummis attempted to spearhead the effort to get the tax benefits into the bill—but by the time Vice President J.D. Vance cast the tie-breaking vote Tuesday to pass the legislation through the Senate, they hadn’t been included.

“We just ran out of time,” a crypto policy leader told Decrypt.

A spokesperson for Senator Lummis was more upbeat about the effort, saying that she “had productive conversations with Chairman Crapo and other Senate Finance Committee members over the last few weeks, and looks forward to continuing her work with the rest of the committee to fix these important tax issues at a later date.”
