📝 What you need to know

Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger is investigating reports that customers in Southeast Asia lost funds after buying devices from a reseller called CryptoBilis.

As a precaution, Ledger has asked the reseller to pause all sales and shipments. Anyone who bought from CryptoBilis in the past 90 days should hold off setting up their device, Ledger said, and those who already have should consider moving their assets to a new device with a fresh seed phrase.

Onchain investigator Specter has traced more than $86 million in suspected thefts across Ethereum, Tron and Bitcoin, though Ledger hasn’t confirmed the figure or the cause.

It’s the latest in a series of security issues to hit hardware wallet manufacturers in recent months, including August’s $130 million Coldcard exploit, a breach at a Trezor shipping partner that left customer data exposed, a subsequent hack of its email provider.

Why it matters
Traders expect Bitcoin's weekend to be quiet. With BTC at $82,730, they put 63% odds on Sunday's 4 p.m. UTC price landing between $82,000 and $84,000, and just 1% on anything above $86,000. Downside risk remains, with 21% on a finish below $82,000. That's a steadier mood after Bitcoin dipped below $81,000 on Thursday amid the oil-driven sell-off. The bigger test comes Wednesday, when September CPI lands.
