Altcoins dominated in Friday morning trading, following the winding down of Ripple's court battle with the SEC over XRP sales.

Ethereum punched back above $4,000 for the first time in eight months Friday morning, as part of a wider crypto market surge.

Altcoins outpaced Bitcoin in the rally, with XLM and Chainlink among the cryptocurrencies enjoying a substantial bounce.

But the news was dominated by XRP, as Ripple’s court battle with the SEC over sales of the cryptocurrency finally reached its protracted conclusion. Naturally, the coin’s “XRP Army” enjoyed their victory lap, boasting that they had “emerged from this battle bigger and stronger together” and sarcastically congratulating the regulator for suppressing the price and enabling them to scoop up more XRP for their bags.
