The latest draft of the Clarity Act dropped Wednesday, with provisions barring the U.S. President, officials and their spouses from issuing digital assets and sponsoring crypto while in office. But the ethics provision would expire in 2029, and leave enforcement to the Department of Justice—something that’s already sparked objections from Democratic lawmakers, who argue that it “falls short.”

In the wake of the pushback, the odds of the Clarity Act passing this year have plunged on prediction platforms.
