The airdrop from Ethereum L2 Blast has been highly anticipated for months. When the claims opened today, it became clear the project was dropping $354 million to its users. But it’s been off to a rough start.

A flood of fraudulent links has been all over Twitter. One even made it into the project’s Discord server before a community manager deleted it. Aside from that, BLAST saw a huge selloff. The reason: A wave of disappointment felt across DeFi circles at BLAST’s opening price. Many had sky-high expectations for the token, given the Blast network’s popularity among crypto whales, and the exorbitant sums collected during the airdrop for Blast’s predecessor Blur—the disruptive, incentivized NFT marketplace.
