Bitcoin dips under $80K 📉

BTC dipped below $80,000 just as Galaxy Research declared its bear market over. Wednesday’s Fed decision may settle the argument.

📝 What you need to know

Bitcoin slipped below $80,000 to an intraday low of $79,330 before recovering to around $80,250, down 2.1% on the week. Analysts blame a sell-off in AI stocks and nerves ahead of Wednesday’s Federal Reserve decision and next week’s midterms, with HashKey’s Tim Sun eyeing $75,000 as the next support. Spot Bitcoin ETFs shed about $773 million on Thursday and Friday, though they still ended the week up roughly $301 million.

With impeccable timing, Galaxy’s Alex Thorn chose this moment to sound the all-clear, declaring on Monday that Bitcoin’s bear market ended in June and calling now “an attractive time to buy and hold.” His tripwire is a weekly close below the 50-week average, currently $76,540, that isn’t regained within a month.
