FBI Director Kash Patel belatedly disclosed a six-figure Strategy stock buy that’s now underwater to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. In a filing correcting an “inadvertently omitted” disclosure, Patel revealed that he’d bought between $100,000 and $250,000 of the Bitcoin treasury firm’s MSTR stock, which subsequently plunged by 44%—meaning his investment has lost him between $44,000 and $110,000.
Strategy this week unveiled a “Digital Credit Capital Framework” under which it could sell up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin to shore up its cash reserve, as it shifts from its policy of relentless Bitcoin buys to “active capital management.”
The move snapped a days-long losing streak for MSTR—though with the stock trading hands at just over $100, it has some way to go before Patel turns a profit.
