A $15B flight to safety

Following the Coldcard exploit, some $15 billion worth of Bitcoin went on the move in search of safer shores.

📝 What you need to know

An estimated $15 billion worth of Bitcoin went on the move in the wake of the Coldcard exploit at the end of last month, with one post-mortem pointing to 2,100 BTC stolen, 22,000 BTC moved to exchanges and 233,000 BTC moving out of long-term holder wallets into safety.

That safety may have been short-lived, though, with hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor disclosing Thursday that a breach at its shipping partner had exposed customer data through 8 August—right when those Bitcoin were being shuffled around.
