$400K Bitcoin, feels 'reasonable' 🎯

Brian Armstrong told CNBC that $400,000 Bitcoin by 2030 is still a "reasonable target," arguing the downturn has bottomed out ahead of the Senate's Clarity Act vote.

📝 What you need to know

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong isn't backing off his big Bitcoin call. Speaking on CNBC Thursday, he said $400,000 BTC by 2030 remains a "reasonable target"—a fivefold jump from around $77,000 today.

Leaning on Bitcoin's four-year cycle, Armstrong argued the current downturn, now about a year old, has bottomed out, with the next halving roughly 18 months away: "I think the next year or two is going to be good for Bitcoin."

On Washington, he sounded confident the Clarity Act is "ready to get a yes vote" ahead of a key Senate vote, with ethics rules over Trump's crypto ventures the last sticking point. Even if it fails, he expects regulatory clarity within a month, since the SEC and CFTC can act alone. Not everyone's convinced: Myriad traders put just 17% odds on the Clarity Act being signed into law in 2026.

Why it matters
Hacks drew 24 nominations for its fifth season, the most ever for a comedy, and Jean Smart is chasing a record-tying eighth acting Emmy, per Variety. Traders aren't buying it. Widow's Bay, the Apple horror comedy that broke out in April, landed 19 nods on a partial season—its last three episodes weren't eligible—and Hacks has fallen 65% on the week. The market closes September 14.
